Power Washing Cleans Up
Power washing a building is a fascinating thing for me to do…I know, but remember, we each march to a different drummer.
What a power washer is, is a machine which uses a regular garden hose attached to the source of water, the water then runs through this small, heavy machine used to build the pressure behind the water, which a person then directs at a surface to clean the grime, dirt, and grit accumulated over time. I’ve used the power washer to clean the side of the house, my husband uses it to wash his truck.
So here on our latest mission trip, I stood and watched as a gentleman power washed a building, using a back and forth motion, each time, washing more grime away. Years of grime and accumulated dirt washed away with each swipe of the wand. I watched the moss washed out of the crevices and rain gutters. I watched as the green slime rolling off the siding. I watched the building being restored, with each pass of the wand, cleaning more of the building.
Jesus, our Power Washer
And I thought, isn’t this what our Savior does for us? Isn’t Jesus our greatest Power Washer?
I read in 1 Corinthian 6 about the unrighteous and their unrighteous behavior. Then He tells me in verse eleven:
“And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
THIS IS BEING POWER WASHED BY THE GREATEST POWER WASHER!
I was once a sinner, then Jesus came into my life and started cleaning me up. He washed through my heart, one swipe at a time. With each swipe of His love through my heart, He cleaned out old grime of bad behaviors, another swipe would clean out pride or a jealousy that had set to fester there. He’d swipe through my heart yet again, and there would go more of my old self.
Eventually, I will be fully clean when I am received into heaven to be with Him, but for now, Jesus is still Power Washing my heart, one swipe at a time.
