The Bible is alive and sharper than a two edge sword…Hebrews 4:12
Yes, I believe the Bible is sharp and I believe it is alive…it is His Living Word, for us to read and digest on a daily basis. But how, as a Christian blogger, does this translate into my writing?
I asked God this very question. His answer back to me…read Psalm 23 through the eyes of a blogger dependent on Me. Today I am using the New Living Translation (NLT) for my study.
Here is how I depend on Psalm 23 as I write:
Verse 1: The Lord is my Shepherd
…A Shepherd leads. I need a Leader, a Guide, He is the Goal I want to follow.
I have all I need
….By following God, I have everything I need to write. He leaves me needing no one else nor anything else.
Verse 2: He lets me rest in green meadows
….The Lord, at times, will stop me in my tracks to give me ideas or answers to what I should be writing about.
He leads me beside peaceful streams
….The Lord will allow me to rest in Him and be rejuvenated in Him. When I am frantic, staring at an unmet deadline or wondering where I will get any inspiration, He allows me to rest in Him.
Verse 3: He renews my strength
… When my soul is crying out for solace or help, the Lord provides loving words to my heart. I am able to go on and write more.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name
Verse 4: Even though I walk through the darkest valley
…when I think no one is reading what I write, or nothing I write is helping any other person, He renews my thoughts and provides encouragement through others.
I will fear no evil, for You are close beside me
….I write what I believe and I write in Whom I believe because the Lord takes away all fear of consequences.
Your Rod and Your Staff protect and comfort me
….Your Rod is Your Holy written Word and is my guiding light I follow. Your Staff is Your Holy Spirit and is my comfort to Whom I run and fall into like a soft cushion.
Verse 5: You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies
…The Enemy would like all Christian bloggers to be silent and intimidated to write the Truth. Yet, You go before us and keep building the platform for us to build upon.
You honor me with anointing my head with oil
….When I cannot think of one more thing to write or when I do not have the energy to check one more fact, You give me an anointing to continue, an anointing that can only come from You.
My cup overflows with blessings
… When you anoint my head, I know you anoint my words and bless them. They seem unstoppable. I know You will make them powerful and a help to others.
Verse 6: Surely, Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life
….Your goodness, Your love, Your kindness, Your mercy will by my reward for continuing this writing. Forever, until the end of my days on earth, Your gifts will be mine.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
…As long as I have this earthly body, I will honor You. I will use my words, whatever I have to live for You. Then, when my day has come and I get to be with you face-to-face, I will know Your perfect love lived through eternity. Until then, I will write for You.
